Where we’ve flown · Where we’re going

A family flying journal. Every island, every flight, every magenta line, kept for our own record, and for anyone who likes maps as much as we do.

01 · The Map

Every line we’ve flown

Every route we have flown, drawn straight from the ForeFlight logbook. Home base is Isla Grande (TJIG) in San Juan; from there it is a short hop to almost anywhere in the northeastern Caribbean. Open a trip to see the real GPS track.

Five hours of fuel puts the whole northeast Caribbean in reach.

76 gallons, burning about 13 an hour. Culebra for lunch, Mayagüez for the afternoon, St. Croix and Grand Case, and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, 265 nm out.

Where the family has been

Each card opens the full trip: every flight as flown, the weather we actually had, and photos from the ground.

03 · The Crew

Who is on board

The reason any of this is worth writing down. He got his first set of wings before he could walk.

04 · On the Board

Trips we want to fly

Ideas and half-made plans. Deliberately kept to a season rather than a date. No need to publish exactly when the house and the hangar are empty.

MDSD · 203 nm

Santo Domingo

The one that needs no planning gymnastics. Two hours due west, well inside our range with reserves, and a capital city at the other end.

Target: this year
MBPV · 401 nm

Turks & Caicos

Providenciales. Four hundred miles northwest, most of it over open water. It fits in one hop on paper, but the sensible version stops at Puerto Plata for fuel.

Target: needs real planning
MYNN · 746 nm

Bahamas

Nassau. The big one. No way to do it without stopping, so it becomes a proper trip: down the chain with a fuel stop, and back the same way.

Target: someday, properly
